Just like the end of the year, the beginning of the year at Jiamini is strongly guided by Kenya's education systems. Education is the greatest asset we can offer the Jiamini children. After the exams and the subsequent long vacation, classes have started again in most educational institutions.
In recent weeks, the local team has helped the children with their applications for admission, the compilation of personal documents and the procurement of the necessary school materials to ensure a smooth start to the next school year.
With 20 school children and 6 different facilities, this is a major challenge. New school places are allocated by the government when children move from elementary school to secondary school, for example. It often costs the social workers a lot of effort to have these allocations changed, as they are often practically impossible to implement.
