In Kenya, the current 8-4-4 school system is gradually being replaced by a new 2-6-6-3 school system. This should become a competence-based system, which should optimally prepare the students for professional life. To what extent this will succeed and what costs will arise remains to be seen in the future. The lower-primary stage is now being introduced.
